Change the Visibility for Part Number

Sometimes you need to change the visibility on a part number. The most common reasons for this are

  • A user with limited visibility created the part so the new part number isn't available to all stocking locations.
  • The visibility was accidentally set to the toolcrib or warehouse stocking point instead of the company-wide non-stocking locations at the top of the location hierarchy.

In these cases where the correct visibility is higher in the location hierarchy,

  1. Look up the part number under Inventory > Part Numbers.
  2. Select the correct Visibility and click on the toolbar.
If you need to change the visibility to something lower in the location hierarchy, this can cause existing inventory to be stuck in limbo if it is in a stocking point that will be outside the new lower visibility. Contact Support to discuss the best option for your organization depending on the reason for lowering the visibility. This could be using Transfer All to move all inventory first, creating a duplicate part number, or something else.
