Configuring a KPI Panel

A KPI panel can be edited from the Dashboard page when viewing a dashboard or from the Configure Dashboard page when adding a new dashboard or editing an existing one.

To configure a new KPI panel
  1. Click within the KPI panel to configure.
  2. Select the KPI from the list.
There are two groups of KPIs: Predefined KPIs and Report Type Queries. Selecting a KPI from the Report Type Queries group in the list will display additional fields to be completed in the panel.
  1. Select the Chart Type to represent the data. Available options are Bar (data is displayed in horizontal values), Column (data is displayed in vertical values), Line (data is displayed as points connected by a line), Number (a number representation) and Pie (data is displayed in wedges of a circle).
The Number chart type displays the Total in a predefined KPI or the first value in the Vertical Column for a Report Type Query KPI.
  1. Optionally add a custom Caption to display in the panel.
  2. Optionally modify the size of the panel within the dashboard by changing the Size (Row by Col.) values. Changing this will impact other panels on the dashboard. The total columns for each panel in the row cannot exceed 3. The total rows for each panel in a column cannot exceed the Max Rows defined for the dashboard.
  3. Add the definition for KPIs from the report type query group, if applicable.
    1. Define the X Axis or Horizontal Column.
      1. Select the Horizontal Column. For Bar chart types, this must be a field containing numeric data or a field to be counted or otherwise grouped.
      2. Select the Horizontal Aggregate for numeric values if applicable. Options are Count, Sum, Minimum, Maximum, and Average. Date columns have additional aggregates of Day, Month, and Year.
    2. Define the Y Axis or Vertical Column
      1. Select the Vertical Column. For Column, Line, and Pie chart types, this must be a field containing numeric data or a field to be counted or otherwise grouped.
      2. Select the Vertical Aggregate for numeric values if applicable. Options are Count, Sum, Minimum, Maximum, and Average. Date columns have additional aggregates of Day, Month, and Year.
    3. Select the Location Column Filter to which the dashboard's Location Name filter will be applied.
    4. Select the Date Filter Column to which the dashboard's Date Range filter will be applied.
    5. Select the Report that can be run from the Dashboard if a Report Type Query KPI was selected. Options will include standard reports and any customized reports for the report type query.
    6. Optionally select the Filter from the list of saved advanced filters for the report.
  4. Click Save to retain the changes to this KPI panel.
Remember to save the dashboard when done.

To edit an existing KPI panel
  1. Click within the KPI panel to configure.
  2. Make any required changes.

Note that changes to the KPI or chart type could require changes to the Horizontal Column and Vertical Column parameters.

  1. Click on the toolbar to retain the changes to the dashboard.
