About the Dashboard

This feature is in BETA. Development is ongoing. Report any issues to the Support team.

The Dashboard page is used to view and customize KPI (Key Performance Indicator) dashboards for your organization. Each KPI is based on an existing report in ToolHound. Some pre-defined KPIs are included but many more can be customized to suit your organization.

From this page, you can also launch Configure Dashboard to add new dashboards or edit existing dashboards.

Each dashboard is made up of two sections:

  • the upper section contains the general information for the dashboard: a Dashboard name, visibility Location, and a Start Date and End Date to filter the results for each KPI. The Location and date range can be changed at any time. These will be retained for the next time the dashboard is displayed.
  • The lower section contains one more more KPI panels. Each panel can contain one of the following chart types to represent KPI data:
    • Bar (horizontal bars)
      • The Horizontal Column needs to be a numeric field or field that will be counted.
    • Column (vertical lines)
      • The Vertical Column needs to be a numeric field or field that will be counted.
    • Line (data points connected by a line, line graph)
      • The Vertical Column needs to be a numeric field or field that will be counted.
    • Number (integer)
      • Valid for predefined KPIs with "Total" in the description or the Vertical Column for a Report Query.
    • Pie (wedges in a circle)
      • The Vertical Column needs to be a numeric field or field that will be counted.

Dashboards are added or edited by clicking on the toolbar to launch the Configure Dashboard page.

Each KPI panel on a dashboard can be configured at any time, depending on the user's role permissions, by clicking within the KPI panel.

Multiple dashboards can be added or configured. If multiple dashboards are available, the last-viewed dashboard and parameters will be loaded by default. To view a different dashboard, select it from the Dashboard dropdown list.

The default dashboard is saved in the browser (same as Print after saving) so if a different user logs in, the same dashboard will be loaded unless they do not have access in which case it will be the first dashboard in alphabetic order to which they have access.
Set the Dashboard page as a favorite to access it quickly.

Permissions are granted to view dashboards on the Dashboards tab for the Role.

When new dashboards are created, every role is automatically granted permission. Since KPIs are based on reports, if a user doesn't have access to report, related KPIs will not be available on existing dashboards ("No Access, check permissions." will be displayed in the panel) or when creating new KPI panels.
