Installing an Update using the Installer

​​This release requires the .NET 10 Web Hosting Bundle on every On Premise installation, whatever version you are updating from. That includes a site updated in the last few months: version 6.2026.617.0 and the 0723 hotfix were both built on .NET 8. Installing the update without the .NET 10 Web Hosting Bundle will cause the site to fail to load.
Either install the .NET 10 Web Hosting Bundle (dotnet-hosting-10.0.9-win.exe) before applying the update, or use the installer, which includes the file and installs it for you. IIS must be restarted after the Web Hosting Bundle is updated.
Earlier runtime requirements, for reference: the update to version 6.2024.314.0 required a move from .NET 6 to the .NET 8 Web Hosting Bundle. If you are updating from a version before 6.2024.314.0 you are moving two runtime generations at once. You need only the .NET 10 bundle. .NET 8 is not an intermediate step.
ToolHound updates are cumulative. When skipping multiple update releases however, confirm with Support to ensure a smooth update.

Before getting started, download ToolHound.6.Installer.Net10.exe from our download link. The file name now uses dots rather than spaces, and names the runtime. Earlier releases were distributed as ToolHound 6 Installer.exe.

  1. Ensure all users are logged out of ToolHound 6.

The ToolHound installer is not code-signed, so Windows does not recognise a publisher for it. You will see a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen whose only visible button is Don't run. To continue, click More info, then Run anyway. You will then see a User Account Control prompt showing Publisher: Unknown. Click Yes.

Your browser or antivirus may warn you as well. These warnings reflect the missing signature, not a problem with the file. If your organization blocks unsigned installers, your IT department will need to allow this file. Contact Support if you would like confirmation that the file you received is the one we published.

  1. Run the installer file using instructions from Installing ToolHound 6.
Before running the installer, verify the configuration parameters in the appsettings.json file found in the installation path. You will require these parameters when running the installer.
  1. Update mobile devices from the appropriate app store if applicable for this release.
