About Custom Picklists
Custom Picklists are additional pre-defined lists, also called "flat lists", where users select a value from the list. Create the picklist then add the values in the list, similar to manufacturers, units of measure, or cost codes. Custom picklists can apply to part numbers, serialized items or personnel.
Each custom picklist must be added as a custom field before it will appear on the Custom Fields tab for that page (part numbers, serialized items or personnel). The same picklist can be added to multiple custom fields even on the same table. For example, you might create a picklist for a priority that could apply to multiple custom fields with different names for different purposes.
Additional values can be added ot the picklist at any time. Values cannot be deleted if assigned to a record. To discontinue use of a value in a picklist, make it inactive.
Fields on this tab include:
Name | This is the description of the list. This is not necessarily the same as the caption that will appear for the list when it is added as a custom field. |
Value | The value, or description, of the list item. Up to 30 characters. |
Code | A short code representing the list item. Up to 10 characters. |
Active | Active by default. Remove the check to make the list item inactive and prevent its use. |
