About Departments

The department can be assigned to serialized inventory to record a different department, business unit, or cost center, that either owns or is responsible for the inventory the inventory being tracked by the stocking location.

Examples: the toolroom tracks fire extinguishers owned by the Fire Hall or eyewash stations and AEDs owned by the Safety team.

Departments can be up to 60 characters and do not affect transactions or any other events.

Fields on this tab include:

Department

Enter a unique department. Up to 60 characters.

Active

Check this box to make the department available to be used.

Watch this video for an understanding of the different pick lists available and the types of data they contain. If you are importing inventory or personnel data, these values need to exist in the system first.
