Change the Part Number for a Serialized Item

If a serialized item is attached to the wrong part number, you can move the serialized item to the new or correct part number without having to create a new item.
Infrequently a serialized item will be assigned to the wrong part number or you might choose to break out a single generic part number into multiple part numbers that are more detailed.
A serialized item can only be moved to a different part number with the same inventory type.
Changing the part number on a serialized item will cause its complete history to appear with the new part number. This should be restricted to tool crib administrators.
- Look up the Serialized Item under Inventory > Serialized Items.
- Clear the current Part Number by highlighting the entire field and pressing Del or Backspace.
- Assign the new part number by either
- typing the new part number and pressing Tab
- clicking
to the right of the Part Number field to use the catalog to find the new part number
- Click
to save the record.
