Update the Bin Shelf for Multiple Items at One Time

Updated by Cheryl Wallace

Best practice is to enter the Bin as you receive inventory whether it's received on a transfer or a purchase order or added manually. If you are reorganizing your warehouse or tool crib, you might need to change dozens or perhaps hundreds of Bin references. Doing this manually is a long, laborious job. It is possible to use an import template to help speed up this process.

These processes add Bin references but cannot be used to remove them or blank them out.

For Bulk or Consumable Inventory

Leverage the Min Max import

  • The Part Number and Stocking Point are required in addition to the Bin column.
  • This is a good opportunity to set or revise the Min / Max values at the same time.
Quickly populate the spreadsheet with Part Numbers from Inventory by Location report filtered as required.

For Serialized Inventory

Leverage the Serialized Item import

  • The Part Number, Stocking Point, Item ID and the Inventory Status of In Stock (regardless of whether the item is physically in stock) are required in addition to the Bin column. The Inventory Status will be disregarded.
  • This is a good opportunity to add the purchase cost if not previously available.
  • Other fields not necessary
Quickly populate the spreadsheet with data from the Serialized Inventory report filtered as required.
