Alternate IDs tab for Serialized Items

All inventory in ToolHound can be referenced by multiple unique IDs such as UPC codes from different vendors, internal bar codes, brass tags, or engraved numbers. In the case of serialized items, the list of alternate IDs is maintained on the Alternate ID tab for the Serialized Items page. Read more about Primary ID vs Alternate ID.

For non-serialized items, alternate IDs are maintained on the Part Numbers page.

Fields on this tab include:

ID

Displays the alternate ID of the item.

Description

A description of the alternate ID.

Adding an Alternate ID for a Serialized Item

  1. Look up the Serialized Item.
  2. Select the Alternate IDs tab.
  3. Click to add a new alternate ID.
  4. Enter the new alternate Item ID to associate with this serialized item.
  5. Optionally enter a Description of the type of identifier. Examples: VIN, Etched, BRASS
  6. Click to save.

Deleting an Alternate ID for a Serialized Item

  1. Look up the Serialized Item.
  2. Select the Alternate IDs tab.
  3. Click on the left of the row for the alternate ID to delete.
  4. Click to save.
Alternate IDs are not moved to the Recycle Bin and cannot be deleted if they have been used on transactions.
