Return Damaged Tools

Updated by Cheryl Wallace

When tools or equipment come back to the toolcrib damaged, use the return status on the return transaction to indicate the state. There are two return statuses available for this situation:

  • Damaged puts the item back in stock and available to reissue. The item might have only light damage that does not affect its usage or it might need repair. If the item needs repair, handle this using the procedures established by your organization. You might issue it out to a repair vendor or internal service department.
  • Write Off does not put the item back in stock and a retired item record is created. This item is scrapped.

Your organization might have additional custom return statuses available. Contact your internal ToolHound administrator for information on how they should be used. If you wish to create custom return statuses, contact ToolHound Support.
