Can consumables be returned?

Consumable inventory is generally not expected to be returned. However it can be returned if unused. To return consumable inventory, create a return transaction as with any other inventory coming back to the stocking location. The quantity on hand will be increased. If the Transaction Rental module is in use, a credit will be issued for the returned consumables.

Best practice is, when possible, to return the consumable items under the same entity to which it was originally issued. When returning under an entity who has never been issued the item ID, a warning will be displayed but the transaction can proceed.

The quantity being returned cannot exceed the total issued from the stocking location.

Consumables that have been partially used when returned can be kept in a "free issue" cabinet or shelf. Check this area before issuing consumables.
