About Message

Updated by Cheryl Wallace

The Message panel communicates static information to all users, similar to a bulletin board. The Message panel fully supports HTML and can contain formatted text or hyperlinks.

Contents of the Message panel can originate from

  • the HomeMessage.txt file in the installation path.
  • the Home Message tab on the Settings page. Any user with Add or Edit permissions to the Settings can update the message at any time.

The Message panel will display the contents of the HomeMessage.txt file followed by the the content of the Home Message tab on the Settings page.

If no messages have been configured, the panel will not be displayed. The Message panel will be displayed if any information is entered in either location. If you wish to have the Message panel appear consistently, include a single space or other character in the message.
Watch this video for a tutorial on working with the Message panel.
When including hyperlinks in the Message panel, ensure the link opens in a new window or browser tab.
The contents of the Message panel is also available on TH6 Mobile.
Messages from HomeMessage.txt
  • For Cloud users, this is not configurable. It is managed by ToolHound to communicate important information. Use the Home Message tab on the Settings page instead.
  • For On Premise users, the contents of the Message panel can be configured by editing the HomeMessage.txt file in the \wwwroot folder of the installation path. This file can be edited while the system is actively in use. The Message panel will be refreshed with the updated content the next time the Home tab is active for each user. It is not necessary to stop or restart IIS or force anyone to log out.
