About Units of Measure

Units of measure determine how to track how inventory is handled or moves (such as each, by pair, by roll or by case).  Units of measure are used in several areas including:

  • Part Numbers
  • Issues and Returns
  • Transfers
  • Purchasing

Fields on this tab include:

Unit

The full description of the Unit of Measure. Up to 60 characters.

Abbreviation

The unique abbreviation of the unit of measure. Up to 20 characters.

Active

Active by default. Indicates whether this unit of measure is available for use.

Watch this video for an understanding of the different pick lists available and the types of data they contain. If you are importing inventory or personnel data, these values need to exist in the system first.
