About Location Types

Updated by Cheryl Wallace

ToolHound comes out-of-the-box with two Location Types:

  • Stocking Location is a locations at which inventory is stocked. These locations own inventory and can transfer inventory to other Stocking Locations. Examples include warehouses, tool cribs, shops, and distribution points.
  • Non Stocking Location is a type of location that does not own inventory but acts as an "entity" that has inventory checked out to it temporarily where there is no individual accountability for the inventory. Examples include projects, job sites, trucks, and long term storage.

These two location types answer the needs for nearly all cases but should you wish to differentiate between location types, additional location types may be added.

Before making any changes to or adding any location types, contact ToolHound Support.
