About Inventory Types
Inventory types are broad classifications, or families, of assets used to define the behavior of part numbers. This page is used to view, rename, or add the inventory type list.
The four basic inventory types are:
- Serialized - Unique assets, sometimes having serial numbers, where every issue and return is tracked individually. Each part number will have multiple primary IDs assigned under Serialized Item. Examples include power tools, vehicles, manlifts or come-a-longs.
- Consumable - Assets expected to be used up and are not expected to be returned. Consumable items are usually issued in quantity. One primary ID is assigned per part number. Examples include safety tape, gloves, cans of lubricant or o rings.
- Bulk - Smaller, less expensive assets that are expected to be returned but will not be tracked individually. One primary ID is assigned per part number. Examples include hand tools, signage or caulking guns.
- Non Stock - Assets not physically in stock that need to be supplied and recorded, usually for billing purposes. One primary ID is assigned per part number. Examples include miles, set up, or miscellaneous fees.
.
Additional inventory types can be created based on four basic classifications in order to suit the organization.
