Adding a Task to a Part Number

Updated by Cheryl Wallace

Maintain a list of basic service tasks requirements that apply to all serialized items linked with this part number. Items inherit service requirements on the part number. Detailed service requirements and histories are stored with the serialized item. Deleting a service task from a part number does not remove the task and its history from individual items but the task will not be inherited by items added to the part number in the future.

  1. Look up the part number under Inventory > Part Numbers.
  2. Select the Tasks tab.
  3. Click  above the Task grid. The list of tasks with frequency and meters is displayed.
  4. Double-click the Task, or select a task and click Select, to add it to the service requirements.
  5. Click  in the edit tool bar to save the service task.
To remove a task, select it and click  in the grid. Removing a task from a Part Number removes it for all associated serialized items. Items' Service History will not be affected. Tasks cannot be removed if there is a pending open work order for the item.
